Joining the Forum
Q: How do I join the forum? A: Joining Capriole is easy! First, make sure you're at least 13 years of age. This is required by Proboards, and is non-negotiable! Next, pick a character name and edit your display name to reflect it. We do not allow members to have unrealistic usernames, like "horselover123". It must be either a first name, or a first and last name, with the latter being preferred. Then, give yourself an avatar, at 150x200px, and you're done!
Q: Why do I have to be 13? A: This is an official Proboards rule outlined in their Terms of Service. Believe me, if we could have members under 13 legally, we would! In order to comply with the Proboards TOS and not get in trouble with Proboards (and possibly have the whole forum removed), we have to be strict about the 13-and-up rule.

About the Forum
Q: Is there a money system for the forum? A: Nope! Every now and then, sales, shows, festivals and other places may have monetary values listed as prizes or prices for services or stud fees. This is just for fun. Some members like to keep track of their stable's finances on their own time, but there is no official money system for Capriole, and there never will be.
Q: Is Capriole free? A: Capriole will NEVER require real money! It will always be free no matter what
Q: Is Capriole partnered with EA or other companies? A: Capriole is not partnered with any other companies or with EA specifically, and definitely won't be. Though Capriole uses the Sims 3, it has nothing to do with EA as a company.

Horses and Registration
Q: Is registration required? A: Short answer, no. There is no official requirement placed by Capriole to register your horse with our breed associations. However, it does have its advantages. Registration means that your horse meets strict requirements that make them a good example of their breed. It can make them be more desirable when sold, or as breeding stock. Some clubs may require registration, but that's separate from Capriole breed registration.
Q: Why was my horse rejected from registration? A: There are many reasons why your horse can be rejected from registration. The most prominent is that you submitted either a) incorrect information or b) an incorrect picture. Make sure that you've double checked that all information is correct, and that whatever conformation pictures you have are in good lighting, have the horse in the correct pose and that the picture is side-facing. There are also horses who have been rejected because they don't fit the breed standard. Not only does the information you type have to fit the standard, the horse does too! The most common mistake here is if the horse is a certain pattern but doesn't actually express that pattern. For example, a horse may be listed as a tobiano but exhibit patterns that are for overos.
Q: How do I get more horses? A: There are 3 ways of getting horses on Capriole. You can either a) breed them, b) buy them, or c) create them. There is no limit to how many horses you can have, although it is recommended to have profiles somewhere of all the horses you plan to use regularly!
Q: Do I have to use realistic genetics? A: You don't have to, but it's highly recommended. If you need help with genetics, we have a great guide and other members would be happy to help! Genetics are optional, although Capriole prefers realism, so while there are no rules preventing you from using realistic genetics and colors for your horses, it is highly recommended due to the culture of Capriole.
Q: I sold a horse to another member and now I want it back. What can I do? A: There is no official policy for reclaiming horses on Capriole, but it is highly recommended that you contact the person you intend to reclaim the horse from and see if you can strike a new deal in which the member keeps the horse. If the member broke one of your rules, it's generally seen as more acceptable to reclaim the horse. It's recommended that you approach them kindly about it, to avoid any fighting. And do not be afraid to have a moderator mediate for you!

Clubs and Associations
Q: What is a club? A: A club is a member-run organization that has a specific focus, like a dressage club, or a club for miniature horse enthusiasts. These are 100% member run with little to no involvement from the staff (Some Capriole members may also be staff on these clubs, but the two jobs are considered very separate). Clubs sometimes host shows, have their own leaderboards and registration, and may have their own custom content. This is all fine, and encouraged! Keep in mind that none of these clubs are official Capriole clubs, and have no authority over the official Capriole points, titles, registration, or any other Capriole records (Although club-run shows can give out points for the official Capriole leaderboard).
Q: Are staff members of clubs also staff members of Capriole? A: Simply being a staff member of a club does NOT make you a staff member of Capriole, although some staff members may also be a part of certain clubs.

Competitions and Festivals
Q: What's the difference between a competition and a festival? A: A competition is hosted with the purpose of earning points based off of the skills of the horse and rider. Things like form, realism, speed, and editing are judged. Prizes include leaderboard points, and can also have "monetary prizes", images, or custom content as prizes. Festivals are based off of the creativity and photography skills of the player, and may have physical prizes, but do not award points for the leaderboards.
Q: Are there any restrictions on which horses can enter which shows? A: Capriole does not have any official restrictions on entering shows. However, individual members may want their shows to be more realistic and choose to restrict breeds, ages, points, etc.. Capriole-run shows will never have restrictions, except in places where it's necessary, like turnout, restricting courses, dressage tests etc. User-run shows can add restrictions at their own discretion. Keep in mind that if you add restrictions, it might keep some people from being able to enter the show!

Other Questions and Answers

Q: Is creating a website necessary? A: No! A website is highly recommended for organizational purposes, and to have a place to show off your horses and offer services. But this can also happen right on our forum, so if you don't feel like creating a website, don't know how, or prefer to have everything forum-based, you can easily avoid having to create an external website!
