Traditional Shows
Traditional shows are photo based shows that showcase your talent as a photographer, editor and rider. Generally, you take a certain number of images of your horse on the competition course, and they're judged on your skills as a photographer, and the form of your horse and rider. This is obviously not a hard and fast rule, and traditional shows will vary based on the show host, but it gives you a general idea of what it'll be like.

Traditional Show Photos
The photos you take for the traditional show are what you will be judged on. Generally, show hosts will ask for between 1 and 3 photos to be judged, and these photos will be taken during your horse's participation in the competition. Show hosts can also ask for bonus photos, which are photos taken off the course. For example, a bonus photo might be your horse getting packed into the trailer, your rider walking the course, your rider grooming the horse before the show etc. These bonus photos are generally not judged the same as the show photos, and are usually judged on a smaller scale to add extra points to your score.
To figure out what to take photos of, read the rules that the show host has provided. For example, a dressage show might ask for 3 different movements, with a picture of each. A show jumping show may ask for just one photo of your horse on the course, either traveling between jumps or jumping over one of the obstacles. Make sure to read these instructions carefully!
Most traditional shows will be divided into editing and non-editing divisions. Editing is judged in the editing division, and is not judged in the non-editing division. The amount of editing you're allowed to do in each division will depend on the show. So make sure to read the rules carefully!

Judging Traditional Shows
While not all traditional shows are created equal, generally speaking the judge in a traditional show will have a set scorecard and score your entry using this scorecard. Most scorecards will judge on form, creativity, editing, and other categories, depending on the show. Show hosts should have their scorecards in the description of the show so you know what to concentrate on.
The total points on the scorecards will be added up to determine the winners.
In the event of a tie, it is highly recommended you have at least one tiebreaker in place.

Hosting a Traditional Show
Hosting a traditional show is simple! We've provided a show template for you that you can use if you wish. If you want to create your own template, go right ahead, but remember to include all the necessary information! Traditional shows should last longer than randomized shows to allow members to have the time to enter. It is recommended that they last between two weeks and two months. When your deadline has passed, it's time to start judging. Stick to a scorecard and use that to judge your entries. Comments are highly encouraged, so people can improve!
If you want to provide prizes along with your show besides points, you're totally welcome to! Prizes can include custom content, stamps and ribbon images (which we can put on your profile for you!), whatever you want! Some people give monetary prizes, but this is just for fun. There is no monetary system on Capriole, but some users choose to keep track of their finances to enhance their roleplaying experience.

Randomized Shows
Randomized shows are a great way to gain points with very little work! They're perfect for those who don't have as much time to enter traditional shows, people who aren't comfortable with entering traditional shows, or for people who want to gain extra points quickly. The show is completely randomized with everyone having an equal chance of winning.

Judging a Randomized Show
Judging a randomized show is simple. Using a random picker or generator, randomize the entries and pick the placements for between 1 and 5. Do this for each class you have in the show. Make sure the results are randomized completely!

Hosting a Randomized Show
Hosting a randomized show is just as easy as judging it! All you have to do is copy and paste the randomized show template, modify it to your needs, add in all your classes, and then you're done! When judging the show, remember to keep everything random!
You may have multiple disciplines in a show, or just one discipline with multiple classes. It's recommended that you have multiple levels for each discipline to allow more people to have points!

Levels and Advancement
There's no official requirements for entering the different levels on Capriole. In fact, there's no official requirement to use these levels. These levels listed are just for fun and for those members who prefer a little bit of realism. A spreadsheet has been created to show all the levels within each discipline, and you can read more about these levels in the specific discipline guides.
You can view the different levels of each discipline here!

If you decide that you prefer a more realistic game, you can have your horses level up with each show, or with a certain number of each show. But keep in mind that some show hosts may not decide to include a level, or have it be the highest level. Deciding to level up your horse realistically doesn't give you any advantage over other players, it's just a fun way to add some realism to your game!
If you're choosing to host a show and want to include different levels, try to include as much variety as you can. You don't have to host every level, but to make it easier for more members who choose to level their horses realistically, you should have a low level, a medium level and a high level. You may also host multiple disciplines and multiple levels of these disciplines.

Leaderboards, Points and Titles
The leaderboard keeps track of all Capriole shows, traditional and randomized. It encompasses all disciplines, though English, Western, Racing and Miscellaneous leaderboards are kept separate. Keep in mind that only traditional and randomized shows can award points, and only if enough horses are in each class. Festivals do not award points, and photography classes/creativity classes cannot award points.
Traditional and randomized shows each award a different amount of points, though both award points only for 1st through 5th place. The amount of points awarded does not change from show to show, though other, non-point prizes may be offered.
This leaderboard only includes points given by shows that meet our criteria. To meet the criteria, the classes awarding points must have enough entrants (5 for traditional shows, 8 for randomized shows), the classes awarding points must judge the horse and rider as a team, and the photos being judged must include the horse and rider competing in the discipline within the class. Creative classes and classes without enough entrants cannot award points, but may award other prizes.

Titles
Titles are awarded for excellence in the show ring. Each title is earned after a certain number of points earned. Titles serve as a great way to brag, but some show hosts may also decide to award extra points to title holders and foals of title holders.
The titles are awarded according to this system:
Copper: 50 points Bronze: 100 points Silver: 150 points Gold: 250 points Platinum: 500 points Diamond: 1000 points
